The Hand Dredge itself measures 36 inches long, giving you a good reach even before you attach any nozzle. The check valves have white marks on the “top” side, which should be pointed upwards for the system to work most effectively. The flappers in the pumps hang on hinges which work best when the hinges are at the apex of the flow.
Included with this Hand Dredge pump are a 6-foot hose, a 2-gallon bucket with a twist-off Gamma Lid (bucket is 9″ tall x 8″ diameter), 3 specialty nozzles with an extension, and instructions. The three nozzles included with the hand dredge are the Sniper Nozzle with “Rock Block” that can reach into cracks and crevices, the Bulk Sand Nozzle that’s designed to quickly draw sand and 1/2 inch material, and the Bedrock (classifier) nozzle that filters sticks and leaves and gets just the sand #8 and smaller.
Please note that the Hand Dredge cannot be shipped to a PO Box and ships via UPS to street addresses in continental USA only. The pump uses two leather cups back-to-back, attached to the plunger handle, to move material into the pump and out through the hose. When wet, these cups will seat in the barrel of the pump. When first using your pump, placing the leather cups in water for a few minutes will allow them to conform to the diameter of the pump barrel and work more effectively.
